Start with your passport country. The checker above is the fastest way to orient yourself because Thailand's tourist-entry rules can change and different nationalities can follow different routes.
Entry permission, permission to stay, extension of stay and work authorization are separate questions. Solving the first one does not automatically solve the others.
Entry permission and permission to stay are related, but not identical
A visa, visa exemption or other entry route gets you to the border with a particular basis for admission. The permission granted on entry determines how long that individual stay lasts.
This is why a visa's validity period should not be read as if it were automatically the permitted-until date stamped or recorded for a specific entry.
Check the rule that applies to the trip you are actually taking
Use the checker with the passport you will travel on and recheck the official entry rules before departure. Then confirm passport validity, onward travel or other carrier-facing requirements that apply to your trip before departure.
If your real purpose is Thai employment, study, retirement, living with family or a longer-term residence plan, use the broader Visa & Immigration guide rather than treating tourist entry as a universal migration route.
Keep the permission actually granted separate from later obligations
Once you are in Thailand, the important date is the permission attached to that stay. Extension of stay, 90-Day Reporting, TM30, re-entry protection and work authorization can then become separate tasks depending on your situation.
Do not let a later reporting receipt or residence notification replace the permitted-until date in your own planning.

What changed on 15 September 2026
The revised rules took effect on 2026-09-15. Travellers who entered earlier retain the permitted stay on their immigration stamp; the checker above shows current rules.
Rule change notice
The revision was published in the Royal Gazette on 31 August 2026 and takes effect on 15 September 2026. Travellers already in Thailand, or entering before 15 September 2026, keep the permitted stay shown on their immigration stamp.
